According to experts, this oatmeal and onion mask is quite efficient in cleansing acne-prone skin so that impurities are lifted from the pores. The onion in this mask acts as the anti-inflammatory agent and it is the oatmeal that cleans out the pores. This mask is indeed effective but it does not work miracles overnight and will need to be used on a regular basis to show how effective it is. This mask should be used together with a skin care routine that takes care of acne prone skin so you can see the best results.

- 1/3 cup unflavoured oatmeal
- Large white or yellow onion
- Half a teaspoon of honey
- Boiling water,1/4 cup
Take the ¼ cup of boiling water and pour it all over the oatmeal. Allow this to steep for 5 minutes so the oats become soft but do not become too mushy. While that is steeping, you can take your onion and chop it up which you will then place in a blender and puree until you have a nice paste. Take your onion puree and your honey which you will then add to the warm oatmeal paste. Mix them all up until everything is incorporated and somewhat cool. Once it is at a comfortable temperature, you can spread it on your face and leave on for 10 minutes. The onion tends to release a lot of liquid and if you’re mask is somewhat watery and is too runny just add a bit more honey and it should work out just fine. Rinse with warm water and follow with some toner.
This recipe makes enough for several uses so try not to use it all up at once. Store the excess in a clean container and store in the refrigerator and it should keep for a week. Do not ever freeze this mixture as it will affect the consistency and potency of the ingredients. Should you need to use it again, you can just warm it up in the microwave for a couple of minutes before applying to your face once more.
