  • Water – Drinking lots of water can natural flush out the oils from your system! This is the healthiest natural way to achieve clearer skin. Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water on a daily basis to see the effects over time. “Liquids” such as sodas, instant fruit juices, or coffee do not count. Drink pure water and see the hydrating effect that this can give your skin. Excess oil production is usually caused by the skin trying to adapt and become more moisturized due to lack of hydration, so keeping hydrated with plain old water can lessen the problem.
  • Baking soda – Baking soda has its own amphoretic properties which means it can correct your skin’s pH level. Sometimes, this imbalance is what causes breakouts. Applying baking soda paste made with water and baking soda in a 1:2 ratio can help dry up pimples. Mix water and baking soda until you get a paste, apply a thin layer over oily areas after washing with a gentle facial wash, and let it dry. After the paste dries, rinse with warm water. Do not use this on a daily basis since it can cause over drying of the skin.
  • Lemon juice – Lemon juice along with other citrus fruits have a drying effect on the skin. It can be applied as a kind of fruit juice mask after cleansing so that the skin will absorb it more. Take half a lemon and juice it into a small container. After cleansing your skin, apply the lemon juice using a cotton swab and leave it on for about 5-10 minutes. Rinse with water immediately if it stings. This would be better used at night when you can apply some moisturizer afterward so that you won’t over dry your skin.
  • Egg whites – While egg yolk masks work well for those who have dry skin, egg white masks work oppositely. These can help dry up the skin by inhibiting oil production and working to tighten the pores. Break an egg and separate the white from the yolk. Apply it on your face and allow it to dry or tighten. Once you feel it has dried, rinse off with warm water.
