How to Deal with Body Acne during SummerSummer is the best season of all. It is the time when you can go on vacations, swim on every beach in the country and show off your body on bikinis and swimsuits. But how can you do that when you have acne all over your body? Yes, it is embarrassing and not to mention very unfortunate to have breakouts during summer. It is kind of a cruel joke that when you want to wear as little clothes as you can to cool down your body on a hot day, acne would not seem to disappear.

Some people can have it tough especially on summer season. The heat, pollution and excessive sweat are some of the reasons why acne are prominent during this time. But instead of holing inside your room, covering yourself from head to toe and skipping summer just because of this tiny problem, don’t fret. Here are some tips to keep your body acne-free and prevent unwanted breakouts:

1. Exfoliate the Skin

Exfoliating the skin whole year round is one way of keeping it healthy, radiant and free from acne. The dead skin cells accumulate on the skin which can clog the oil glands and lead to acne and rashes. To remove these dead skin cells, one has to maintain their skin exfoliated. However, summer requires the skin to be exfoliated every day. Acquire a loofah glove and lather it with water and soap if you like. Scrub every inch of your body particularly in the chest, shoulders, neck, lower back and upper arms where body acne usually occur. There are exfoliation scrubs available in the market for your face.

2. Use Sunscreen

Protecting the skin from the sun can help prevent acne, though some sunscreens can clog the pores. Dryness is caused by long exposure to the sun. When the skin is dry, the oil glands produce more sebum. Use at least SPF 30 sunscreen on the skin before going out on a scorching hot summer day to protect it from the sun’s rays. This regulates the moisture level on the skin. Remember to use sunscreens only when they are necessary and avoid the waterproof ones.

3. Oil Control

During summer, the oil glands are on overdrive. When these glands produce excess sebum, it causes clogged pores and blackheads. To prevent oily skin, it is best to use a toner that is water-based twice daily, during mornings and evenings. Avoid using alcohol-based toners as they can dry the skin which can cause more acne breakouts.

4. Switch to Other Facial Products

Do not use the same facial product for a long period of time. The skin is more reactive to a product if you change it periodically. Switch to another product during the start of summer. Choose those which have salicylic acid as an ingredient. It is responsible for regenerating the skin. Cleanse the skin using a sunscreen after washing since it is more vulnerable to the UV rays.

5. Wear Loose Clothing

Loose clothes will help sweat to evaporate easily and it also helps in cooling down the body which is a result of a good circulation of air. Bacteria often thrive in sweaty parts of the body and these are the main cause of acne. Use talcum powder often during hot days as well as wear more comfortable and loose clothing.
